The Department is headed by an experienced professional (Accountant) to render accounts monthly and at the end of each financial year in the manner prescribed by the Accountant General of the State. The Department presently is headed by the Ag. Director, Finance and Accounts. He directs and supervises his subordinate to provide adequate accounting system and control in the Ministry to ensure compliance with public sector accounting standard and principles.

The following are the mandate of the directorate:

- Maintains a comprehensive record of the financial and accounts transactions for the Ministry

- Processes all payments in respect of the Ministry i.e salaries, allowances and other charges.

- Prepares Bank reconciliation records

- Advises the Ministry on Finance and accounts matters.

- Ensures appropriate accounting books and record keeping

- Liaises with DPRS on budget matters

The ministry maintains Expenditure Accounts with United Bank for Africa (UBA).
